Re: '59 Reissue Strat
I like the look. A friend of mine has sort of been looking for something similar, but he said he wants an ebony board. I'm not expert on CS Strats, but I'm not sure I've ever encountered ebony on a Strat.

Re: Vintage Gibson archtops (misc)
I had high hopes for my '62 JS when I got it. The 3" body depth, the slightly shorter (than an L5 or Super 4) scale of 25", and the 1 3/4" nut all really appealed to me. The guitar played pretty well after a nice refret job, but somehow the tone never quite lived up to my expectations...

Re: Fender Custom Shop 1962 Reissue Strat
Yeah, it's much closer to seafoam than surf green (based on my understanding of the standards, as illustrated below). Much closer to seafoam, but it's not exactly seafoam either. My middle photo comes close to the color, but in reality it's a bit more green. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v208/jw...

Fender Custom Shop 1962 Reissue Strat
Built in 1999. I've had it since 2006. Amazing quality, great playability and sound. This color is impossible to photograph accurately. It's greener than it looks here (even greener than the middle photo). It's not a traditional seafoam, and I still wonder if there was a special name given to this c...

1940 ES250N
Got this from George Gruhn in 1990. He told me that he had gotten it from the famed session player Harold Bradley. Great guitar, extremely rare. http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k61/syluxmaster7/40ES250Nclose.jpg http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k61/syluxmaster7/40ES250Nhead.jpg http://i85.photobu...

1966 L5N Custom
Says "L5N" on the label... although it's a custom order L5CESN. Anyway, I've owned three Gibsons with Charlie Christian pickups, but this is the one that remains with me (had a custom ES350CC in the 80's, and an ES250 in the 90's, and didn't find this L5 until 2004). I wanted that early 60...

1963 L5CT(ES)
Bought this guitar in 1990, and it's been my favorite ever since. A definite "to the grave" guitar. It was pretty roughed up when I got it. Heavily gigged, possibly by bluesman Joe Louis Walker (that's what I was told). The pickups aren't original, although they're paf's, but it's one of t...

Re: My vintage Gibsons
Sorry I didn't respond sooner here... trying to keep up with the various topics on the forum. Gorgeous guitars! RAB, I've always been a total sucker for cherry red Gibsons (you probably saw my posts in "The Red Thread" at the LPF). I always used to dream about finding a vintage Super 4 or ...

Re: Attempting to account for (some of) the 119 blonde Sheratons (1959-1969)
I've saved photos of a few others ('59, '61, '64), unfortunately I don't have serial numbers. I'll keep my eyes open. Number 3 on your list... 40919x (maybe #409191?) (a 1966, listed as a 1965 on eBay) ... is also on gbase (https://www.gbase.com/gear/guild-sheraton-1965-blonde). That's the guy I pos...
